A Few Memorable Hindi Songs

Before you start wondering what this list is all about, let it be clear that this is not about digging into the all time classics or any kind of all time top hits. When listening to a few songs, I felt different about the song or the artist and hence this article here. Lets not waste any more words and take a plunge right into the songs

- Not in any order –

  1. Beethe Lamhein – The Train

A song from the serial kisser’s movie to start with. It can be comfortably forgotten that the movie has been copied shamelessly from Derailed, along with its taglines. Don’t even try to watch the movie but this song stands out terrific. Considered by critics as one among the best songs of 2007, it captures your attention the first time you hear it even if it is accidental. Undeniably good!!

  1. Bol Na Halke Halke – Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom

One of the unexpected disasters of 2007- JBJ. But when we have the ‘designer’ trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy doing their consistently good stuff, music cant be bad. This particular track stands out in the album, main reason being its very different feel from the other tracks. When I first heard this track in radio, I felt like listening to a song which I had forgotten years ago. Later I found out that I was not the only one!!

  1. Maula Mere Maula Mere – Anwar

Aanken Teri….Kitni Hazeen” – Roop Kumar Rathod at his best!

Lyrics, Music, Chorus, Beautiful, Unbelievable, Speechless!

This song from this unknown, box-office bomb ‘Anwar’ has already found its way to various Top Ten lists. For one of the most under-used voices in the Indian music industry, one can never forget ‘Khamosh Raat’ from Govind Nihalani’s ‘Thakshak’ composed by AR Rehman. ‘Maula Mere’ might be a tad better!!

  1. Khamaj – Fuzon

The ‘Khamaj’ video first caught my attention almost 4 years ago. With the song composed by the Pakistani band Fuzon, the video told about fascinating relationship between a movie director and his lead actress set somewhere in the 50s. The feelings of the characters on screen were somehow very clearly depicted in the singer’s voice and the lyrics. Later I forgot the video (which is nothing special) but the song still remains a personal favorite. A soft rock with a classical touch!!

  1. Najaane Kyun – Strings

Here comes a personal favorite. This track gained popularity as the “Spiderman II” promotional video in the sub-continent. When the song appeared in Channel V almost four years back, it swept people off their feet regardless of their age, gender and creed.

Both beautiful blend of soft rock and powerful voice with a classical touch had never been better. Strings later went on to make another equally impressive masterpiece for the soundtrack of Sanjay F Gupta’s “Zinda”.

Expect more additions to this list of songs soon.

Will do it when i get more time :)
